Tracking Agrobacterium in plant tissue
Dr. Pierce’s lab · University of Richmond
As a biology researcher in Dr. Pierce’s lab at the University of Richmond, I focus on Agrobacterium tumefaciens and its behavior in plant tissue.
My work has involved tracking bacterial growth across Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco) leaves. I use GFP-labeled Agrobacterium strains to track when virE is activated, and mCherry to follow bacterial populations within the leaves.
My contribution
- Tracked the progression of Agrobacterium growth across Nicotiana tabacum leaves.
- Used GFP-labeled strains to monitor virE activation.
- Used mCherry labels to track bacterial populations within the leaves.
