ABOUT

A little about me.

From Nicaragua to the University of Richmond.

Hello, I’m Daniel.

I’m Daniel Garay, a biology student from Nicaragua on the pre-med track at the University of Richmond.

I currently work as a biology researcher in Dr. Pierce’s lab at the University of Richmond, focusing on Agrobacterium tumefaciens. I track bacterial growth across Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco) leaves using GFP to monitor virE activation and mCherry to track bacterial populations within the leaves.

Beyond the lab, I serve as Chief Operating Officer of Ganadería San Sebastián, a farm in Nicaragua focused on improving livestock genetics through embryo transfer practices.
